Friday we moved the guest bed out of Gray's room and over to Zac's folks for them to take care of for us until we need it again. I just felt like we needed the extra room in the boys room over the bed. Hopefully I won't regret that decision! Uncle Lance kindly came and loaded it up and dropped it off for me and Gray got to ride with him which made him feel pretty special. Aunt Doll had her tonsils out which is never fun, so we went to see her that night for a little while. Grayson got Papa Alan to open a can of olives for him and he was happier than ever. He loves putting them on his fingers & eating them-what kid doesn't?! He loved seeing Doll too even though she wasn't feeling the greatest. Hopefully she heals up super quick.
Saturday was a fun day. Zac worked from home and he and I got a lot of headway done on a bunch of stuff we've needed to do for the business & our employees which always feels good. It is so nice having him home-even when he's working. Gray struggled more than ever at naptime & when I went in to get him when it was time for him to wake up, this is what I found. Can you find Grayson? I don't know why he prefers the floor over the bed this week, but we're just trying to go with it & hope that eventually he prefers the bed...did anyone else have this with their kids?

After naptime (for both me and Gray!), we all went grocery shopping together which is always a treat to have Zac's help! It goes more smoothly & is fun to chat while accomplishing our errands.
We ate dinner at Fiesta which was yummy & nice since we haven't been out together as a family in a long time. Grayson surprised us and ate all of his chicken strips & a lot of fries! We saw a few friends too which is always fun. Grayson totally cracks us up because he always cleans up after himself when he eats. When he was done, he put every crumb on the plate, wiped the table off with his napkin and handed me the plate saying, "all done mama." He wanted me to take it to the dishwasher and didn't understand the concept of leaving everything on the table!
Then we headed over to Z's folks to visit with them and uncle Craig who was visiting for the night. He is getting married this month and we couldn't be happier for him. He is so deserving and she is a beautiful woman. Hopefully we'll be able to make it to the wedding. It was fun visiting and playing with family.
Sunday church was good. Grayson loves nursery again (thankfully) and was so happy to be back after a two week sick break. He is pretty quiet and does his own thing in there and kind of sits back and watches the other kids, but also plays with toys & enjoys the songs & snacks. It cracks me up that he's quiet because I was the total opposite as a kid. Zac was like that though, so he must get it from him. We ate a delicious prime rib lunch at my folks afterward and it was seriously the best meat I've had...ever. Yum! Came home and we all got a nap and then our home teachers came-they are great guys. We went back to my parents afterward and watched Biggest Loser on DVR since we'd missed it the previous week. Zac made McCall a chocolate milkshake-poor girl doesn't feel so great-and I got to love on Jaeger a lot. He is so darn cute & cuddly and makes me excited for our baby boy to arrive. Came home and when we were ready to put Gray to bed, I asked him to please park his tractors. He ran off and i didn't really pay attention, but after he was in bed, I went to get something out of the fridge and saw this:

So cute! I love his little thought processes and the small evidences of his presence in our home. Zac and I read together for a while and went to bed. A great weekend!

Sounds like you had a good weekend. Hopefully taking the bed out of the room will help and I think it will feel a little more spacious for you guys. I love that Gray is on the floor at least he didn't go and lay down on the kitchen floor like Greg did one night :) I have no idea what that kid was thinking. Hopefully he starts adjusting more to the bed, I still have my struggles with Greg, but it has gotten better. Love you.

James is still in a crib, but we are considering transitioning him to a toddler bed soon...we are just looking for a bed and then maybe we'll do it soon? I dunno, part of me wants to get him in a cute "big boy" bed and I think he'd like it, but part of me realizes that there'd be no going back to the crib!! hehe
Glad you had such a great weekend and are feeling a bit better. I love little Gray. He's so super smart I could eat him up. Love ya!
karli-the transition to a big bed is a hard one, even now, I find howie randomly asleep somewhere else. Not all the time, just here and there-like once every other month or so, just to keep me on my toes I am guessing. The last place I found him sleeping was on the bathroom floor-between the john and the bath tub! Random. Be patient, it is hard, but you can do hard things. Once you master this, something else will come which will be hard too. seems like we just get to a good point and then a new thing develops which we have to work on. some days it is overwhelming for me too. I have to tell myself: enjoy the journey. good luck with this struggle.
I had to laugh at the picture of Grayson on the floor next to his bed. Kacen totally did that, too. Don't worry, Karli, Gray will get it. Hang in there!
Everyone is right, he will get it. It might take time but it really looks like he is doing what is normal and right for his age. You are a good mommy and just breathe and remember that everyone has bad days. Except me...I have REALLY bad days. :0)
i have the cutest nephews ever! he is so dang cute! (:

Places we've found our boys over the years after changing into toddler bed: Kitchen floor rug-3 nights in a row, UNDER the bed SEVERAL times (after falling out--not sure how they never woke up cold!!), in the hallway, on the bathroom rug, on the couch--those are just a few!!! It freaks you out a bit to go check on them & they're not there!!! It totally makes me laugh to remember those days!!! Gray sounds like he's doing awesome!!!! Enjoy the laughs, because soon he'll just go down each time easy & stay in bed!! I'm confident he'll take the "big brother" roll once the baby is here & suprise you daily his abilities. Somehow they change & all the sudden act more grown up when the baby comes!! Keep up the great work & hope you're feeling well!!!
I know exactly what you mean when you were talking about seeing Gray's tractors... even when Jake is just napping, I'll see little reminders of him and it just.... like wow I love that little guy! :0)
