Last week sometime after dinner, Zac and Gray laid down together on the couch to watch a show. I was getting things tidied up and ready for family prayer, bedtime stuff, etc.., and when I looked back, this is what I saw. Pretty cute. Soon Beckham will be cuddled up right between them too! Love it.
Mom was over helping me frost cupcakes for a baby shower I was hosting and Grayson came in, opened the fridge and took out his half gallon of milk (his has the blue lid). He said, "Is this my milk mommy?" I was distracted and didn't even fully register what he was doing. I said yes and kept frosting. I looked over again and saw him totally guzzling the milk! I thought it was hilarious & actually wanted him to keep doing it because it's so hard for me to get him to drink milk ever anyway! But, it's not a great habit to start (he always sees his aunt taylor doing it!)... So I took it away and he was mad. But, at least he was getting some Vitamin D! Funny kid.
Monday Chase & Bre had their baby boy by emergency C-section 8 weeks early. Pretty scary, but so far things look like they're going okay. Bre was released from the hospital and baby boy is doing pretty well considering how early he was. I am thankful they were both okay & excited to meet the little guy soon. Tuesday I threw a shower for Emily & Chelsey who are both having baby girls in the next couple months. We are so excited for these baby girls to join our family and the shower went off fabulously. I made the Martha Stewart pompoms that are so darling-easy-cheap, and the food looked so yummy! Thanks to Mom Pete for helping me frost all the cupcakes & Morgan for helping with kids & preparation while getting it all put together & Taylor & Doll for watching the boys during the shower.
Last night I had a presidency meeting with my counselors (Julie Hartley & Annette Johnston) and so the boys went to play at Grandma Cleaver's. Grayson is getting pretty tired of me leaving him, so he was kinda sad at first. He warmed up quickly though and I am glad I decided from the beginning that we need to have a no-kid policy at our presidency meetings. I think we get much more accomplished. It was a great meeting and gave me further peace about how amazing my counselors are. They are so willing and capable & are making my job so much easier already. I got back to pick up the boys and the kids were running through the sprinklers. Grayson has been incredibly nervous around water and wouldn't even touch them. So I showed him how I could run through it. Then I held his hand and ran through with him...and he loved it! Small victory, right?!
He had fun with Zachary and Madelyn playing in the sprinkler and then all the kids got in the pool with Aunt Morgan and Uncle Layne. Grayson didn't want anything to do with that and I was fine with that. He ate a bowl full of cooked brocolli with me instead. Soon though Jeffrey & Madelyn coaxed him into the pool with them and he LOVED it! I was so proud of him and he was laughing and having a great time.
I guess it's true that the best way to get kids into the water is for them to be with other kids who won't pressure them, but take it at their pace. They were great with him and he just played and loved it. Beckham just chilled with Daddy on the sidelines & we all enjoyed the show with Zac's parents. We stayed later than I had planned because I didn't want to ruin a good thing, but when he was ready to get out we came home. It was a great day!

Way to go Grayson! Isn't it funny the things your kids decide they do/don't like. It always amazes me. In this house it changes constantly too. :) Anyways, loved the pictures of the boys. I'm glad you are feeling confident with your calling and that you have great counselors. Love ya!
Small victories are great. With somethings, like potty training or swimming on their own, I felt like Layla would never get it. But they always do. It's usually better when it is at their own pace. Good job to Grayson! Love the milk pictures! :)
Those milk guzzling pictures are too cute! The shower decor and refreshments looked amazing. Good job!
I love small victories any time they happen. Good job on the shower and good job on getting pictures of the guzzler before you took the carton away!
