December Daily {12th}: Christmas Devotional

Zac stayed home from church since he was still feeling pretty awful, so the boys & I got ready and headed to church.  Thankfully we had Grandpa Newell & Grandma Wendy to sit by us & help me because those boys are kinda crazy in sacrament meeting.  It was a great meeting and Grayson was super excited to get to nursery, so Beckham stayed with G&G while I took Gray upstairs with me.  Sharing time today was on, "Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World," and I had 4 gifts wrapped that symbolized 4 different events {Jesus' birth, the sermon on the mount, praying in Gethsemane, & the resurrection}.  We talked about the gifts we received because of each of these events & then we discussed gifts we can give to Jesus.  Each child drew or wrote something they would do this next year to give as their gift to Jesus and I gave them little drawstring bags to place their gifts in and hang them on their trees.  I think the kids liked it.  They had some great ideas.  We are working on coming up with our individual gifts & our family gift for Jesus as well and we'll put them in our Jesus pocket on our fridge.  I know when I did this last year it made me much more aware of the commitment I'd made to Him to work on something I was struggling with.

After church we checked on Zac who was still sleeping {he hadn't moved and thought we were just leaving for church when I talked to him, not just getting back!}.  We left him in bed and went to my parents for lunch.  Mom made delicious chicken chili & everyone-minus Zac-were there.  It was a good time & Gray and Jaeger are the best of friends which is pretty cute.  We came home to nap and got a little bit of one.  Gray & Zac {who still wasn't feeling all the way better} watched the classic, "Santa Claus is coming to town," while I blogged. (:

Grayson is loving that Beckham is mobile now and constantly walks over to him and says, "come on baby-follow me!"  He loves having him in his room with him and I often find him reading books to him.  He can recite "Go Dog Go" almost verbatim, so that's usually the book of choice.  He also tells Beckham often how to spell his {Gray's} name...just in case he needs to know, I guess!  I snuck in and got a few shots tonight.

This evening we watched the First Presidency devotional online since we missed it last Sunday.  All three of the men who spoke gave great messages & helped further bring the spirit of Christmas into our home.  I guess Grayson thought he needed to watch with his snow boots on.  Later he donned his drill & his t-ball helmet as well.  At least he was somewhat paying attention, right?
We are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate Christ's birth this month & hope to continue taking that spirit into the new year on a daily basis as well.

I second Tami's comment!! I want to go dig in my pictures & scrapbooks & look at the pictures I have of my boys identical to the ones you posted!!! Brings back so many memories--especially the memories when they couldn't talk much & got along all day..... :) I have pics of my boys, they had cleared out all the books on the shelf & were laying on the shelf. Good stuff!! I love Grays little play area too!! Awesome! Bex is growing so fast--can't believe he's mobile!! Time flies!!! BTW, thanks for emailing me back so fast--even when Gray was down & out!! I still want to visit with ya, but once things calm down here more....if ever!! LOL!!!
