We spent one Family Home evening deep cleaning the garage together {4/30}. The boys also spent some time coloring-they both like it, but Beckham LOVES it lately-and were both very helpful.
We took a drive around Grandpa Newell's farm as a family one night {5/1}. The boys weren't crazy about the idea at first, but we told Grayson he could unbuckle his seatbelt and stand up to look around because we were on the back dirt roads. He is never allowed out of his seatbelt and has always shown a lot of respect for this rule, so he was a bit cautious. Then he loved it. He thought he was so grown up & kept asking to go back. As soon as he saw the highway approaching, though, he jumped right back into his seat/belt. We loved the drive, listening to music, and being together. Taylor is watching a newborn baby, Chloe, Monday's & Wednesday's now. She brought her over to meet the boys {5/2}. Grayson is usually our baby disliker, but he decided he liked Chloe an awful lot. She is quite a big deal around here now and he always tells me how much he loves her, that she has the tiniest fingers/toes/etc. He also told me he wants a baby sister next, so that is big time progress. The first time she came over, he asked to hold her, so we sat down and I helped him. As soon as he said he was done and I lifted her off his lap, Beckham turned around and plopped down on Gray's lap for a turn! It was hilarious & I'm so happy Taylor caught both moments so quickly. The boys love to pet & kiss Chloe and she is a very patient little doll baby.
Daddy had a long work day {5/2} & the boys were very restless. Grayson wanted to do an art project so I looked on Pinterest really quick for some ideas. Found a Martha Stewart link that showed some basic & easy rock projects. Hers were quite a bit more intense than ours, but the boys loved it. We collected rocks, washed & dried them, colored & drew on them, and played puppet show after we were done. Grayson drew the dinosaur all by himself & I was super impressed. He is quite the perfectionist and usually won't draw anything because he's way too hard on himself, so I was happy he was getting out of his comfort zone. Beckham enjoyed coloring his body along with the rocks.
Beckham's naps usually go kinda long and Grayson gets a little restless. He does awesome at having his own quiet time for a good hour or two, but that third hour gets pretty long without his shadow playing with him. I was getting some work done {5/4} and looked into the living room to see the entire thing transformed. This kid is seriously tough. I can barely move our couch & he rearranged the whole thing! He had a ball & I let him keep it that way for a few hours to appreciate his hard work.
