and just like that...

Everything was going great. Last night we ate a yummy dinner at my folks, came home to welcome Zac & played with him for a while. No signs of anything to come... Gray got to bed a little later than usual (9:30) and was asleep within 20 minutes. Zac and I went that way around 11, read our scriptures, cuddled & fell asleep. I got up to use the bathroom {the first of 3 or 4 trips in the night, I swear!} at 1:00 and heard this awful loud barking. I thought for sure that dang neighbor's dog was outside our window and was about to run outside chasing him... Then I realized that barking was MY child! NOOOOO! I prayed he wasn't getting sick, went in {with Zac at my side} to check on him and he just coughed and coughed this awful sound for about an hour, threw up {only into the bowl we held for him-what a great sickie!} and then just kept saying the funniest incoherent things in this cute little high/coughing voice like, "I coughing lots. The mirror fell down. Green light is off. Grain drill broken off tractor. Grayson sick mama. Who made that mess?" and on and on. I held him and Zac {stayed true to our puke/poop deal} cleaned up the mess. Then we both crawled in the guest bed with Gray and slept for a little bit. Zac eventually went into our bed as Gray kept gravitating to him and he wasn't getting any sleep. We were up pretty much every hour with him just talking to me and coughing. Poor baby. I was bummed that I'd have to cancel my plans with Courtney because she was coming to help me make Gray's cake...and bummed that I'd have to try and get him into his pediatrician who has the worst waiting room experience ever...but more than anything, I just felt sad for my baby.

It definitely made me realize how much I take for granted the times he is just well and we can go along with our lives as we wish...and it made me respect my friends who have kids who are sick a lot or all the time and think about how strong they are. It just makes you hurt for them and I kept praying and thinking about how much I love this little {big} spirit I was holding. We have an appointment at the doc's at 1:20, so hopefully we can figure something out & he'll feel good enough for his party tomorrow night! Wish us luck!

Brooklyn had the same thing the other day, they said a really bad stomach flu is going around and that the kids are usually done throwing up after 12 hours, which was true for Brooklyn but she still has an upset tummy and a fever, GOOD LUCK!

Yuck! I am so not looking forward to the first time Jaeger gets sick. I'm praying for Grayson that he can be better by his party....puking sickness is never fun!
I always love it when we go to your parents and you guys come. I was glad you got to hold Jaeger last night I feel bad because I am not too good at letting other people hold him and you hardly ever get to hold him when he is happy and I don't have to take him away to feed him. Thanks for making me feel good about my blog book. Love you Karli, you are amazing!
oh and I never got Candace's email from you....so I can't invite her without it....thanks!

Was'nt the poor kid sick on his birthday last year? Maybe I am thinking of someone else. I hope he feels better soon. My friend was saying that a good thing to try for bad coughs is to take them in the bathroom with the really hot steam going to loosen up the phlemy stuff and then take him out in the cold to get the coughing going so he can cough up the loose junk. I don't know if it works but surely it can't hurt to try. Good luck and love ya! :0)

Awww...poor guy! So is it the croup? If so, wrap him up and sit on the front porch with him in the cold, it makes the swelling go down in his airway (if it is the croup). I hope he's doing better! It's never fun to have sick kids, especially when they can't get rest....or you! Hang in there! Hope he has a fun party--even if he is sick...he'll still enjoy it! Gotta love winter b-days! My boys have been sick for about half their b-days so far!! Not fun! Sending prayers your way! Love ya!
