the weekend. including some big news.

Friday {11th} Mom watched Beckham for me while Grayson and I went on a date.  Actually he had an eye appointment, but it was a great excuse for some one on one time-something he LOVES.  We saw Dr. Lee and he was awesome.  He just carries on conversations with everyone and enjoys himself even though he says he hates it beforehand!  He had to have his eyes dilated-doesn't love the drop part-but did great otherwise.  His eyes looked good, but guess what?

He's getting glasses!  {fyi: that's the big news}.  I was hoping we could hold off till he was at least five, but to no avail.  He needs them now, so we're getting them.  He got to pick out the pair he wanted {with much help from me} and they will be here in a week and a half.  I can't believe it and think he will be so cute, but it will be crazy getting him used to wearing them, being careful, etc.

One thing's for sure: kids aren't cheap!

After Dr. Lee's, we headed to see my friend Connie who was visiting her sister from Arizona.  They were at a salon getting their hair done, so we stopped in and visited.  They are darling.  I just adore Connie and love her sweet friendship.  I'm crossing my fingers that a trip to Arizona is in our future. (:  Grayson just talked their ears off and was incredibly patient while I visited.

Finally, after being awesome for a 2.5 hour doctor's appointment and a half hour visit with friends, he got to pick where he wanted to eat.  He picked Sonic.  Score for yummy diet vanilla drinks for mommy!  He is a funny kid because he loves chicken strips or nuggets, doesn't touch the fries, has a few sips of the drink, and loves the toy.  Easy peasy.

We hurried home after that and visited all the way back.  It was such an enjoyable day and made me realize how important that one on one time is with each kid-no matter what we're doing.  He just loves talking to me {and Zac} by himself and I need to remember that he was used to having us all to himself for a long time, so he needs that sometimes.  It was a great day & the entire rest of the day went smoothly too.  I told Zac that evening, "it's amazing how much my attitude throughout the day influences how everything else goes."  Haha...he's known that for 8+ years now, but was sweet enough not to point it out!

Saturday {12th} was Beckham's first birthday!  Because we were celebrating in a couple days, his actual day wasn't too exciting, although we sang to him every time we saw him and he smiled & danced each time.  We did clean out the garage, worked on sharing time, made a yummy homemade chicken pot pie, and had siblings visit us that evening.  Lance & Kelsey brought Bex a fun toy & me a punching bag for my birthday!  Woohoo!  I am totally excited to use it and now we are just contemplating the best way & place to hang it in the garage so I can get to work getting my boxing/mma moves on.  If I decide to get in the ring anytime soon, you won't be surprised.
Grami Tami got the boys matching jammies & we dressed them up before bedtime & got a few shots.  Amazing how different these two are & how much we adore them both.  Grayson is such a cheese & Beckham is just chill with whatever.  Love it.
After Grayson went to bed Beckham snuggled on my lap while I worked on some computer stuff.  Before I knew it, he fell asleep.  I totally loved & appreciated for a minute the fact that he is one year old now and although he is a fantastic fall-asleep-in-his-bed kid, that he'll still fall asleep in my arms every once in a while.  These tiny moments in the day make the hard big ones seem so insignificant.
Sunday {13th} was a nice day too.  Sharing time went well & the kids just make me laugh so hard.  I had 5 men from the ward come up during junior primary dressed as 5 prophets that I wanted them to portray.  My Jonah and I had a miscommunication, so I just told them-very animatedly, I might add-the story of Jonah.  After telling about Jonah being swallowed by the whale & being in there for 3 whole days, I said, "do you know what happened then?"  The suspense was just killing them & I knew someone would answer super profoundly, when one of our sunbeams {3 years old} said, "He burped?!"  Haha!  We all laughed & I told him that the whale may have indeed burped to help the process of getting Jonah out!  Love my sharing time weeks...
After church the boys chilled at T&T's house while Zac and I drove to Boise for my friend from high school, Megan's, wedding.  It was a nice ceremony & she looked beautiful.  Her sweet baby girl, Mattox, came right to me, snuggled up in my neck, and fell asleep!  I got to hold her for about half an hour and thought she was totally adorable.  There was a super cute photographer capturing the event... (: We headed back to get the boys soon after it was over and then all of us sibs headed over to Mom and Dad's to have some breakfast for dinner.  They are great because we all showed up unexpectedly and just went with it.  We had waffles, crepes, and french toast, and it was a great time.  These boys love their grandparents house, that's for sure!  Gotta love family. (:
