Mini Getaway

January 5th-8th we went to McCall for a little getaway.  We are so thankful for the opportunity to use Dad & Bob's house and had a great time, as usual.  The boys slept the whole way there & we just played with them and unpacked during the early afternoon.  Thursday evening, we invited our friends Tony & Brenda over with their kids to hang out and celebrate Tony's 50th birthday.  He had no idea we were there & so they blindfolded him and brought him to the house.  We were all taking pictures & he was just kinda hopping around saying, "we don't even know anyone here...where are we?"  He took off his blindfold and was so excited to see us & we were so happy to have them!  I rarely think about the fact that they are my parents ages & some of our best friends.  It shouldn't surprise me seeing as how my parents are also some of our best friends. (:
Anyway, we love the entire Ball family and it was so fun to have them with us.  Their kids are AMAZING: Nick {24}, Spencer {22}, Jared {18} & Carly {15}.  Our boys fell in love with them and they were so great with them.  Beckham literally didn't come upstairs the entire time because he wanted to be with the boys.  He just sat on the floor in the midst of their pool playing and babbled to them.  Spencer has a little boy, Max, who is just a month We ate hamburger soup & visited and laughed till late.  It's always a great time to be with people who've impacted us as much and as positively as this family.  We wished they'd just brought their clothes up with them to stay the night because we could have talked & laughed much longer, but they headed back to their condo around 11:30.  Our boys were obviously ready for bed, but had literally been practically perfect while they were there & went to sleep within about three minutes when it was time.
Friday we had a lazy morning and Gray crawled in bed with us around 7 & then both boys slept in till 10:30 which was nice.  Matt, Jen & Cameron came around 1 and we had fun loving & singing to Matt for his birthday {41} and just caught up with them for a bit.  Jamie, Jamon & Gabby joined us later that afternoon and we were all set.  We chatted, caught up, played with the kiddos, and watched shows.  We made dinner, played farkle {many times}, and laughed a lot.  The boys adored being spoiled by Cameron and Beckham would go into panic mode whenever he couldn't find him.  Cam is so patient with them and just the sweetest teenage boy.  After the boys were in bed, the guys hot tubbed for a while & us girls swapped birth stories {Gabby is 6 months & Jen is going through in-vitro right now trying to get pregnant}.  When the guys joined us, we just sat around & talked for a couple hours.  Slowly everyone started tapering off to bed till it was just Matt, Zac, and myself.  I finally left them when the conversation started getting too hilarious about different actors/cars/bands, and went to bed around 12:45.  Fun times with good people.
Saturday was chill, too.  The guys played in the snow, sledded, went to town to grab us some stuff, and entertained the boys with lincoln log buildings, etc.  Us girls held down the fort at home & chatted girl talk all day.  Both boys slept like champs the whole trip & Beckham's naps were top notch, which is always nice.  Zac didn't feel well after 2 in the afternoon or so, and spent most the day in bed, which wasn't fun.  Jen is really into massage right now & gave me an amazing massage-love those.  We all played several mean games of farkle again {love that game!}, got the boys to bed, made brownies, watched a movie, and talked till late again.
Sunday we woke up late, took our time cleaning up, doing all the laundry & packing.  Beckham napped before we left which resulted in a very awake ride home, but it was all good.  We love spending time with these fun friends-even if we only see them sporadically-and enjoy this two time tradition of going to McCall.  Note to selves, though: next year, if we go, we are waiting till later in the year.  It was a bit too close to Christmas and we were all kinda sickish & just needed to get back on a schedule before taking off again.  (:
When we got home, we were ecstatic to find our new table all set up & looking beautiful!  I LOVE it!  The boys do, too.  Thanks to Mom & Dad for the gift & for setting it up.  Such a fun treat!  T&T stopped by for a second and then we ended up at Pete's place that evening to eat around 6:30 and it was yummy and great company.   They had Spear's over & they were hosting their grandson who was a bit younger than Grayson.  The kids all played super well together & were so cute.

So glad you got to have some quality time with good friends! I am a wee bit jealous that you got to do it at the house in McCall, though!
I thought the picture of Grayson with the Lincoln logs was funny because of all the ones lined up in a row...did he do that or did you? I can totally see him organizing them like that. And the one picture of everyone but Beckham on the couch makes it look like HE took the picture haha!
I hope you feel better soon with the drugs from the doctor! You guys have had the "sickies" long enough!

I think it's absolutely awesome that you take that time to go with friends. You are making some of the most amazing memories and impact so many people's lives. I love it. I also love your kitchen table. Your parents are awesome. Can't wait for more posts. It's my only source to you.

Haha Mom, Bex was napping when we took the group photo, so we used the timer. And, I am still totally learning about my camera, so it wasn't even focused well. Oh well. I helped him with the lincoln logs. They were cris crossed because those are like picnic tables for people to hang out at while they wait for the train. He kept saying, "Good job mom! Great idea!" He's a good one.
