a {good hair} day

After Gray spent a few nights at the Cooks when we went to Vegas in October, he was completely obssessed with money-nickels in particular. They have a play cash register & he is totally enthralled with it. He can tell you about quarters, nickels & dimes thanks to Madelyn's patient teaching & loves playing with them. A couple weeks ago, I got a bunch of nickels from his piggy bank & poured them into a cup & he loves pouring them out and "counting" them back into the cups. Another obsession is mailboxes. In our house there is a little mini faux drawer that houses a cutting board that I've never used {all those phobias about germs & meat and wood cutting boards & someone living here and using it before us while possibly smoking has kind of taken the novelty out of it!} and Gray has never noticed. Several weeks ago, he pointed at it and kept telling me to open it. I was on the phone and distracted and just opened it and showed him that it wasn't a drawer when he said in the most amazed little voice, "mailbox!" I guess it kind of would look like a mailbox to a little guy like him, so he started pulling stuff out of the drawer below it {that houses measuring spoons, cups, etc.} and putting them into the "mailbox." This kept him busy for several hours that weekend and has continued to be a fun place to play on a daily basis. Kylee came that weekend and noticed it and then for Christmas she and Greg sent Grayson this cute little mailbox they'd decorated with magnet alphabet letters in it. He loves the letters, but ADORES the mailbox {which used to have a full g on the front! Now guess what's housed in the mailbox when he's not playing with them? Yep, nickels! He has a blast carrying around his little nickel filled mailbox! So after Biggest Loser on tuesday, I watched Jillian {the girl trainer} on Jay Leno and fell in love with her hair. I asked around if anyone knew how to achieve that look and my friend Erin said she could maybe help. She made my day by coming over this afternoon and playing with my hair. I'd say it turned out pretty cute for not having the kinds of stylists/products/time/money that Jillian has! Thanks Erin for being so sweet & making me feel great...and maybe now I'll invest in a curling iron after not having one for the past 6 years!

By the way, I thought you might like this project my friend just posted. They did it for the YW in our ward, and I thought since you're in YW and super-crafty like that, you might find it useful!
