Documentation

Before I forget, I wanted to list a little bit about Grayson at 2 years old. He is such a fun kid & I don't want to forget where he was or what he was doing at this fun stage in his life!

Grayson at 2
:
-Weighs 27 pounds
-Unsure of height & hasn't had shots yet-honestly, I just don't want to fight the whole doctor experience, but I'll take him within the next month or so!
-Loves Thomas the train & anything affiliated with it. As I type, he's laying on the floor playing with Thomas and his tracks saying, "come on Thomas-I want more choo choo trains-I get them!" and I love it. Such an imagination.
-Can sing full songs & loves to sing. I love this because of course music is a big part of our lives.
-This morning when Zac said something to the effect of "no..that's not right," Grayson said, "of course not!"
-Lately has been very agreeable for the most part, saying okay to everything I ask, cleaning up messes without being prompted, and generally being pretty helpful. I think he may be getting geared up for a younger sibling...or for a really big meltdown! (: Let's hope it's the former!
-With the above said, he also still knows the word NO very well. He doesn't yell it, but kind of whines it when he's not happy about something. Thankfully he's usually very easy to distract and reason with.
-Sleeping in a big boy bed-or more often on the floor-for naptime & bedtime and it's going fairly well.
-Talks in sentences and can express himself well. Surprises us constantly with large words {like avocado & pistachios), remembering things/people/places from long ago, and with the fact that he'll learn & use large & complex words in the right context time and time again. I think the chatterbox part of him was inherited from both talkative parents!
-Loves nursery & "brudder" Ralph now-thank goodness!
-Not interested in watching movies yet, but loves Curious George & Caillou.
-Says I love you throughout the day multiple times. I just overheard him say, "I love you Sir Topham Hat." And often says, "I love you mama" or Dada, or Grandpa, etc. I love his little sensitivity.
-Favorite Color: Green. Favorite Blanket: brown blankie (still loves to find the tag & play with it when he's worried or tired). Favorite Food: Dora yogurt. Favorite drink: apple juice. Favorite toy: thomas trains, tractors, puzzles, & tools (loves to go around the house "fixing things." Favorite person to call on the phone: Taylor.
-Still in love with his binky. I've finally gotten a bit better at buckling down and letting him know it's only for bedtime/naptime which has helped. I'm not going to worry about taking it away completely until Baby Brother-aka: hickory baldwin-is here and has been here for a few months.
-His favorite playmate is Daddy. Loves to build with him, play with him, mimic him and follow him around. It's pretty dang cute.
-Learned a very endearing (note sarcasm here) thing from Zac. When he toots he says, "heard dat mouse?!" Or if anyone else does it, he'll totally call them out by saying, "did you hear dat mouse?" Kind of funny too!
-Learned another endearing term {note this came from Nana Tami} and says, "Guess what? Chicken butt!" Pretty funny until he said it during family prayer the other night.
-Along these lines, he picks up on everything we say or do. Today he dropped something & said, "oh my gosh." I about died. I'm going to work on that one myself because it just doesn't sound okay coming out of a 2 year old's mouth! He also "calls" people on his cell phones and says things like, "yeah, I'll call you right back," or "hang on, let's see..." and I know he's heard me say the exact same things on the phone!
-Stubborn in that he knows what he wants & is very persistent. He also remembers everything, so be careful what you tell or promise him because he will not let you forget. If he meets you once, he'll remember you & I love that that is a trait I think he got from me. (:
-Has a cute little nighttime routine with us. He loves to stall bedtime after we say prayers and has decided the best way to do that is to make it something we think is cute too. So each night after prayers are over, he says, "Can we talk?" Just like that. Then he gets on the couch and pats one side for dad & one side for mom. He then proceeds to talk to us about his day and we ask questions, etc., for about five minutes. It's secretly become a tradition that Zac and I both look forward to as well and hope it carries on well into his teenage years and with our other kids. I hope he always wants to talk to us.
-Tries my patience on a daily basis, but also makes me laugh & teary eyed at how much I love him on a daily basis. He is so full of personality & is generally an easy going & fun little boy and we feel very blessed to have him in our home!

I have to tell you....I love your friend Amber. I love following her photography blog but never dare comment because she doesn't know me. She seems like such a character and so much fun to be around. She seems bright & cheerful just like you. I"m so glad she's your friend.
