Because the boys were sick all last week {from late Sunday the 23rd to Sunday the 30th}, I didn't take too many pictures. We stuck close to home and it felt almost like we had the week off. But there were a few things that set it apart & that I did happen to capture, so here they are:
1. Monday (24th) was a day spent in front of the tube watching many episodes of Bob the Builder. Thank goodness for Netflix streaming & the ability to have 45 episodes at our fingertips. Grayson loves it & it doesn't drive either Zac or I crazy, which is a plus. I LOVED that both boys were extra cuddly today & I worked as little as possible & cozied up to them instead. Unfortunately this day I found out that a college friend's 3 month old baby had died the past weekend and my heart just felt broken for her. It was her fourth boy & I always called her my "mom of just boys resource" and we exchanged thoughts on raising boys. Feeling for her family.
2. Tuesday (25th) was our trip to the doctor to find out that the boys just had viruses. This trip was monumental because it was the first time ever that Grayson didn't cry at the doctor. At all. He was so big! I was seriously a proud mama-especially because with the way he was feeling he would have been entitled to acting cranky, and he wasn't! He just conversed with the nurses & doctor Chelsey like they were his best friends. He climbed right onto the scale {which we all know was the bane of his existence in the past!} and said sure when asked if she could put the thing on his finger to get his oxygen level. He was great during the entire exam & just so big! Beckham was also wonderful and sweet. I was relieved to hear it was only a "quick fleeting virus." uh huh. (: Got home and Mom and I headed back with Beckham to pick out fabric to make a quilt for my sweet friend who'd lost her baby. Grayson got to have a playdate with Grandpa Alan and enjoyed himself immensely. It was nice to get out a bit today.
3. Wednesday (26th) was much of the same staying at home stuff. After I got over my selfish ranting as talked about in a previous post, my attitude became dramatically more positive. And, the happiest part of the day? Receiving an amazing homemade Valentine's banner in the mail from Denise. Seriously cute. Seriously needed. I love that she shared her talent with me and that it brightened my day so much. We immediately put it up & started decorating for V-day too, which was also a highlight. {pics to come soon}. Also, one of my favorite things about Beckham right now is his crazy unruly hair after he wakes up. It gets all curly & fuzzy in the back and I just love it.
4. Thursday (27th) I got away for a presidency meeting and Zac watched the boys for me. Poor babies still had fevers & just weren't feeling up to par. I felt good for actually getting a shower this day. (: The rest of the day Zac spent in Boise and the boys & I chilled at home. Grayson took a nap at 5:30 which I knew was bad news & when he woke up at 6:45 he said, "I just want to go to bed in my room!" I took him in there and he slept till 9 the next morning! I'd say he was catching up! We also sadly found out today that Laci {the friend I visited last weekend} lost her twins earlier this week. Identical twin boys. My heart is heavy for my sweet friends and their losses. Again reminded how important it is to not take my blessings for granted.
5. Friday (28th) Zac worked from home and his brother Brad stopped by for a quick visit. They are so different in so many ways, but have a lot of hobbies & interests in common. They talked electronics which I know nothing about, but which conversations almost always benefit me in some way, so I'm grateful!
6. Saturday (29th) Mom went with me to take the boys back to the doctor since they just weren't seeming better & still had fevers! We saw Doctor Margo and all went well again. Grayson was fabulous again-as was Beckham. They got us in reasonably quick seeing as it was a "walk in Saturday" and she said that they still sounded & looked good, so still a virus. However, they both had to get flu shots...uh oh. I knew the wailing would start at this point. The nurse asked Grayson to lay on the table & I held his hands & she gave him the shot and I sat him up and he didn't even cry one tear. He just said, "Now I get my treat?" Holy cow. Way to go dude! Beckham did great too, although he did shed a few tears. I love my boys. We ran a couple errands and checked in at Amber's v-day photobooth for a few minutes before heading home. Organized my craft closet which I've not done since living here and that was freeing! Got the boys to bed & Taylor and Talon came over to watch "The Social Network," which I thought was fascinating. I also made peanut butter blossoms {without eggs for Talon} and for Z's Sunday school class the next day. It was a good night.
7. Sunday (30th) I went to church by myself while Z stayed with the boys. Lunch at my folks & then home for naps. Boys went to bed super early really well. I put together this little bag for the winner of the TSFL giveaway I hosted on the Sister's Stuff blog all week.
So all in all, it was a long week with very little sleep & lots of coughing/sniffling/crying/whining {both kids & mom}, and cuddling. It was good though because I realize how grateful I am for the times they are healthy! (:
