a celebratory spa day

Saturday April 2nd, Amber and I celebrated her birthday {which is the 3rd} together.  Grayson got to spend the whole day with Jaeger & Aunt Kelsey, and Beckham went to Taylor's & Grami's.  It was a great day!  I picked her up around 9:30 AM and we headed to Boise.  We headed to the mall first & both got some great stuff.  I really scored at Forever 21 which we only went into on a whim, so I was excited.  I also purchased a swimsuit which was quite the incentive to be in better shape by the time the season for wearing it comes around.  {middle suit is the one I got-it doesn't look quite the same on me, though!}
We enjoyed talking & laughing as usual.  Of course we were hungry when we got done shopping and headed to Red Robin for a delicious lunch.  We had lots of good laughs & reminiscing about high school then.  Haha-we crack me up!
After lunch we hustled downtown to the Floating Feather Spa.  {picture taken after massage & facial}. It took us a while to find it and we were a few minute late, but not bad.  Best words to describe it: wow.  want to go again!  Afterward, we decided we have the best husbands ever.  It was amazing!  I totally want to make that a traditional Mother's day gift {easy, huh?} because it was extremely blissful.  We started out with massages.  Awesome.  Best massage I've ever had.  Seriously, amazing.  I will definitely be going back to Betsy for a much longer massage.  Best thing about it-no talking.  In the past I've had massages from people I know & they tend to be chattier, so this was great & I just fell into a sleeplike state while enjoying the experience.  Next up were facials.  Wow, this too was a great experience.  Not only did she do a great facial, but while the mask portion was setting, I got an arm & hand massage.  Who knew that having your hands massaged could feel so good?!  Not me!  It was heavenly!  Third were pedicures.  Amber had just painted her toenails super cute so she opted for a longer moisture manicure instead.  It was fun laughing & talking together through everything.  The pedicure was awesome and my toes still look bright & cheerful.  Last was a manicure which was nice too.  I am famous for biting & picking my nails so they were incredibly short.  It's Zac's biggest pet peeve of mine I think, and he's always encouraging me not to pick at or bite my nails because they are really bad...almost to the point of bleeding sometimes!  I know, it's an awful habit. Anyway, she did my nails all cute {what she had to work with} and I made a goal not to bite or pick at my nails to make them shorter.  I have not bothered them at all since, so hopefully the goal will stick! {Amber's hand is the one being painted below-she's always had beautiful nails}.
After our wonderful spa experience all we really wanted was to check into a hotel and take a nap because we felt so relaxed!  (:  We headed back to Krispy Kreme to pick up donuts for my mom, made a stop at Target for some fun stuff, grabbed a diet coke at Sonic, made a couple other stops and headed home.  At one point on the drive home Amber had me laughing so hard I thought I'd wet my pants while driving.  One of the many reasons I love her.

So grateful Amber was born 28 years ago and that we've been friends over half our lives.  She is one of the best parts about me and I'm glad our friendship is strong & growing, that we're raising kids together, that our husbands are besties, and that she gets me & loves me unconditionally.  I told her and explained to Zac that one of my favorite things about Amber is that she speaks my love language.  I know it sounds silly, but she knows me and knows what I need to feel good about myself and she does those things for me.  She's complimentary {sincerely}, encouraging, lifts me up, a great listener, and she loves me in jammies or dressed up.   Thanks for being you Amber!  Thanks for the much needed girl's day out, too.  I love you, friend.
