A long awaited day

After seeing Grayson's exhilaration and love of Darth Vader and recently acquiring the newly released Star Wars DVDs on BluRay, Zac thought it was finally time to introduce the boys to the movie.  We agreed upon the first movie, episode IV, A New Hope, because it's the oldest and least scary.  I don't want them watching the newer movies for a long time, but the older ones are pretty safe.  The only exposure the boys have had to this point is the Darth costume Gray has been sporting for a couple days and a birthday card Zac was given a year ago with the theme song.  They played with it for months and I just recently threw it away, but they knew the song well.

He got everything all set up and they settled down to watch the movie.  From the beginning, when he blared the opening music super loud, those boys were hooked.  Like Aunt Morgan said, "A love of Star Wars flows through their genes."  I guess it's true...Genetic.  It definitely didn't come from me! (:  When we were dating & I was in Rexburg while he was here, Zac asked me to watch Star Wars.  I had gone 19 years without it, but he was adamant, so I called some buddies & my roommates to help a girl out.  They spent an entire evening and we watched all five movies out at that time.  That was crazy.  And I totally didn't understand his love for it.  Since we've been married, I've watched it probably five times total.  All of them.  And I like them more and more.  So there is a definite draw.  I am glad the boys loved it so much.  It was an experience for me just to watch all three of them so enthralled in a common thing.  They oohed & awwed, laughed and cheered, and Beckham danced like crazy and said "wow!" about a hundred times.  And, it entertained both of them for the entire duration-although Beckham wandered around the living room while watching it several times.
It was a pretty monumental occasion for the husband.  A proud & exciting daddy moment, for sure.  Since then they've watched episode IV a couple times and if you even say Star Wars, Beckham starts singing the tune.  The kid doesn't speak but a few words, but he can hum/sing the tune to Star Wars, so we're good. (:  Grayson can also tell quite the Star Wars overview and stands firm in his admiration for "Darth Abader," even after realizing he was the bad guy.
I think the whole experience lived up to & surpassed Zac's expectations, which is pretty dang awesome.
