celebrate-part two

On Dad's actual birthday, Grayson and I made him oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and took them over to him. Grayson enjoyed them as much as Grandpa, I think! He had meetings all night that night, so we had his family-only party on Friday night.
It was a lot of fun. Grayson took his leapfrog computer he'd gotten for his birthday (and that we'd only taken out for the first time that day) over and enjoyed playing with it. Jaeger just loves to be wherever Grayson is and just watches him and giggles at him. Gray is pretty good with him too. We gave Dad this jar that says Grandpa's Treats: Grandkids only filled with snacks. The boys loved this too & when Grayson saw Jaeger sitting on his lap he said, "Grandpa Alan (he always calls him by both names) I wanna sit on your other lap with Jaeger." So cute. These boys love their grandpa!Mom made a yummy dinner and we enjoyed visiting and laughing. Mom & Dad wanted some pics with all three grandsons and that is a feat every time. Why, you may ask? Because of my toddler. That boy LOVES to get his picture taken...unless you want him to. Silly kid. Oh well, it's real life, right?! He's cute anyway & loves his baby brother and cousin. Another big happy birthday shout out to my dad & my kids grandpa who I adore.
Earlier that day, Zac and I attended the funeral of our good friend Tom's dad, Jim, who had passed away at age 63 from a sudden heart attack earlier in the week. Our hearts hurt for Tom and Becca who we love so much. The service was so nice & really was a celebration of his life. Although I didn't ever have the pleasure of meeting Tom's dad, I know without a doubt he must have been an amazing man because of how great Tom is. He & Becca are true friends in every sense of the word to us and we are grateful for them & the things that Jim passed onto them. There were several stories told about Papa Jim and one of his daughters-in-law (he had four sons) said that his 13 grandkids were one of his greatest joys & accomplishments in life & his wife was his best friend & the love of his life. They were such a huge testament to his great legacy. It totally made me think of my dad. I think my dad was the very best dad for me...and he is an even more amazing grandpa & husband.

Funerals always tend to put things into perspective too, and I wanted to just kiss Zac and my boys & enjoy the time I have with them right now. Life is stressful, finances are too tight, business is hard, and there are so many things about myself I want to change. But the things & people I should be placing the most important emphasis on are most often the ones that are neglected & I am working on changing that & trusting God that if I do everything in my power that I know how to do, He will make up for the areas I lack. Just praying that I can be worthy of the blessings I know will come & grateful for the time I have right now.

sorry to hear about your friends death. My uncle has very little time left, thinking about it does make you feel grateful for your family and the time you have with them.
I love that picture of Beckham smiling at your mom that is too precious!
